  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

Method

  • I received this cute cake pan as a gift and excitedly made this cake for the first time on Christmas Day! I followed the tip from Kalakukko (butter the pan then dust in granulated sugar) and it made a glorious delicious crust. Also added some salt and ii fresh vanilla edible bean pods. The cake is delicious, not also sweet, and was great served with coffee ice cream. Looking frontwards to trying it toasted for breakfast today. It is a truthful showstopper slice and then festive!

  • I got the tin from Trevor Mottram in Tunbridge Wells, horrendously expensive at just under £40!!! But well worth it. I added lemon, lime and orange zest and some juice and added some mixed spice likewise to go far more christmassy. I buttered information technology very well and sprinkled flour inside (equally suggested by info on block mould packaging and just waiting for results! I have some mini robins and a couple of santas to attach when finished!

  • I made this cake for our volume guild evening. Information technology was delicious and cooked perfectly, fifty-fifty though I used white Spelt flour and sweetened information technology with xylitol!

  • I've made this cake two Christmas' in a row now. Big success! I did buy Everbake Pan Release, this year. Although last year used Pam for Blistering. Both worked nicely, Everbake doesn't cause the cake to have a thicker chaff, similar the Pam did. I used my vanilla saccharide, homemade vanilla, and vanilla greek yogurt, to succulent results. My family unit loves this cake manifestly, but I served it with fresh strawberries I sweetened lightly with vanilla sugar, and whipped cream. A huge success! Cheers Nigella (I bought my bandbox tree pan last year at Williams Sonoma.)

  • John Lewis have a lovely bright red cake stand with a fluted edge that is perfect for this cake. I made the spiced upwards version in my cathedral bundt tin can. It was succulent and very Christmassy.

  • I simply beloved this block!! So piffling effort put in and such a pleasurable cake to look at. I had people over for drinks and nibbles and they loved this cake, its certainly a bear witness stopper. Now, I need to know where Nigella got the cerise and white cake stand it sits on, the one thats in the Christmas book, any ideas anyone?

  • Just made this baby and it'south a dream. Do butter generously, it works! Sainsbury's have tin reduced to £six.00 at moment. Information technology's non every bit beautiful as this one only it'south notwithstanding very pretty once sprinkled.
